Hedonism

1. the doctrine that pleasure or happiness is the highest good.

2. devotion to pleasure as a way of life.

Contrary to popular belief, hedonists are not necessarily nudists or sex crazed orgy seekers. (Yes, we know about the resort.) Hedonism is a school of thought. In very simple terms, a hedonist strives to maximize net pleasure (pleasure minus pain). It is derived from the Greek word for “delight.”

We are just a couple of down-to-earth, free thinkers who have played the try-to-please-everyone game of life, and figured out the winners really are those that learn to please themselves. Perhaps you’ve heard the story about the old man, the boy and the donkey?

While we realize that one must take the good with the bad, (balance of the universe, baby!) we are dedicated to seeking out the good – the “delight” – in every experience life has to offer. As far as we are concerned, it’s a balancing act, and if you break it down, it’s really not all that complicated. Our point of view is this – if it makes you happy and does not deprive anyone of life, liberty, property, or dignity then it’s probably just fine!

We hope to inspire others to live out their dreams! Just do what makes you happy! And have some respect – for yourself, your family, friends, other cultures, the environment. We feel LIFE is about LIVING, LEARNING and LOVING. We live for adventure and new experiences! We want to see the world, explore new places, meet new people, learn new languages and see other cultures.

This is what drives and motivates US! What makes a person happy is different for everyone, but you’re the only one who can do it. No one else can do it for you, and you’re the only person that can allow someone else to stop you.

That’s easier said than done? True! But like Jimmy Dugan said in the movie A League of Their Own, “It’s supposed to be hard. The hard is what makes it good. If it were easy then everyone would do it.” Life is short, and we want to take full advantage of what this life has so much to offer. The challenges are what makes appreciate our accomplishments. Let’s just see how far we go on this one time journey, and along the way, we’ll continue to do our part to promote hedonistic values!
